.......Vanitas, Latin for "the Vanities", is the joint vision and passion of three sisters, Taryn Band, Katie Wacha, and Jennifer Band. Each of the girls comes from a different creative background with no formal training in fashion design, enabling them to create a fresh and youthful collection. Vanitas strives to create feminine timeless clothing that makes women feel beautiful, sexy, and comfortable. Our emphasis is on vintage inspired pieces with a modern twist. "We love dresses!" Vanitas continues to lure discerning shoppers and celebrities alike. A-listers such as Nicole Richie, Mischa Barton, Cameron Diaz, Mandy Moore, Jewel, Kate Walsh and Gabrielle Union are Big fans.

About Our Partners:

Taryn Band, a Los Angeles native, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and Fine Arts from the Claremont Colleges in 1999. She worked in the wholesale end of the fashion business as a sales rep for various denim lines including Hippie and Joe’s Jeans before founding Vanitas in 2004. Taryn was joined shortly there after by sister-in-law Jennifer and Jennifer's sister Katie.

Katie Wacha, received her degree in Photography in Florida and lived in NYC assisting famed photo representative Elyse Weissberg before moving out to Los Angeles in 2003.

Jennifer Sky Band, a former model and actress brought her years of fashion and entertainment to the equation. She is married to Taryn’s brother, Alex Band of the rock band The Calling.

With this fabulous trio combining their different worlds of knowledge, the girls re-launched their collection as Vanitas of California in 2005.
